Changelog

What changed in Gazette, newest first. Short and honest; we don't announce what hasn't shipped.

Starter packs, OPML landing page, honest small print 14 September 2026

  • Start with a pack: Tech, World, Business, Science or Design in one click from onboarding or the Discover tab. Each pack lands in its own folder.
  • The Discover catalog grew by more than 40 feeds across Tech, Business, Science, Design and Culture.
  • New /opml-import page for readers arriving from Feedly, Inoreader or NetNewsWire; the button opens the import tab directly.
  • Terms, DMCA and Content Policy rewritten for the feed reader, with an Arabic version of each.
  • The landing page now says plainly that ordinary in-feed ads keep Gazette free, and that the phone apps are still in testing.
  • Arabic pages get Arabic titles and descriptions in search results and link previews.
  • Unread only is now on by default; switching it off on one feed is remembered for that feed.
  • Phone apps: a clearer sign-in screen with a short "How it works", and a fix for a crash when toggling Unread only.
  • This changelog.

Gazette 13 September 2026

  • Gornal is now Gazette, at trygazette.com. Same reader, a name that says what it is.
  • Three search pages: Feedly alternative, Google Reader replacement, and reading X without the algorithm.
  • About and Privacy rewritten in English and Arabic.
  • Sponsored cards and in-feed ads on the web, so the reader can stay free.
  • The homepage was rebuilt around one idea: the paper you chose, not an endless feed.

Reading that ends 13 September 2026

  • Balanced folder ordering: one busy source no longer buries the rest.
  • Items mark themselves read while you read them (dwell), on web and in the apps.
  • Magazine view is the default; list, card and a swipe-through reel remain.
  • Reader behaviour events (opened, read, starred) so we can see what people actually finish.
  • iOS and Android apps in test builds: sidebar, timeline, reel, add-feed, settings, OPML export.

Sync, X, newsletters, page tracking 12 September 2026

  • Google Reader compatible sync API: NetNewsWire, Reeder, lire, Newsboat and friends can use Gazette as their backend.
  • Follow public X accounts, Facebook pages (best effort) and newsletters through a private inbox address.
  • Filter rules can mute, auto-read or auto-star; monitoring feeds search the whole catalog by keyword.
  • Track any web page for text changes, with an optional hourly screenshot diff.
