These Terms govern your use of Gazette, the feed reader at trygazette.com and in the Gazette apps (the “Service”), operated by Grovix LLC, a company based in the United States (“we”, “us”). By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Gazette fetches public sources you choose and shows you what they published, in the order they published it. Sources include RSS, Atom and JSON feeds, YouTube channels, Bluesky and Mastodon accounts, subreddits, Telegram channels, public X profiles, Google News searches, Facebook pages (best effort), newsletters delivered to a private inbox address we create for you, and ordinary web pages, including pages you ask us to watch for changes.
The timeline is strictly chronological. There is no ranking, no recommendation and no AI processing of what you read. We keep fetched items for about 30 days; older items drop out of your timeline. Gazette is not open source and is not offered for self-hosting.
The Service is free. It is supported by in-feed ads on the web (Google AdSense) and a small number of clearly labelled sponsored cards on the web and in the apps. There are no subscriptions or billing today. If we later add an optional, low-cost ad-free upgrade, its terms will be shown before you buy it; the reader itself will stay free.
2. Accounts
You sign in through Firebase Authentication with an email address and password, Google, X or, on iOS, Apple. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials and your sync API password private. You must be at least 13 years old. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms or the law.
3. Acceptable use
- Add only sources you are allowed to read: public feeds, handles and pages. Do not add private accounts or supply anyone's login credentials.
- Do not use your newsletter inbox address to receive spam, bulk mail or mail addressed to someone else that you are not entitled to receive.
- Do not scrape, overload, probe or circumvent the rate limits and access controls of the Service.
- Do not use the Service to harass, defame or harm others, or to distribute malware.
- Do not resell the Service or use it to build a competing public archive of publisher content.
Our content policy has the details on what may be added and how we enforce this.
4. Publisher content and intellectual property
Everything Gazette shows you was written and published by someone else. It stays the property of that publisher and is subject to their terms and licences. Gazette fetches it on your behalf, shows it privately inside your reader to you as a subscriber of that source, and always keeps a link to the original. We do not republish it at public URLs. Publishers can opt out or ask for removal at any time; see the DMCA page.
The Gazette name, logo, software and design are ours. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use the Service as intended. Your subscriptions are yours: you can export them as OPML at any time.
5. Ads and sponsored cards
In-feed ads on the web are served by Google AdSense and are non-personalised unless you choose “Accept all” on the cookie banner. Sponsored cards are placed by us, always labelled, never personalised and never based on what you follow or read. We are not responsible for the products or services advertised. Our privacy policy explains what advertisers do and do not receive.
6. Sync API and third-party apps
Gazette offers a Google Reader compatible API so you can use third-party readers. You enable it in Settings by setting a separate API password. Anything done through the API with that password counts as done by you, so keep it private and reset it if you think it leaked. Third-party apps are not ours; their behaviour and terms are theirs. We may change or rate-limit the API to keep the Service running for everyone.
7. Termination and deletion
You can stop using Gazette at any time. To delete your account and everything attached to it, email privacy@trygazette.com from the address you signed up with; self-serve deletion is not available yet. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms, and we may discontinue the Service with reasonable notice.
8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind. Feeds break, publishers change formats and sources go offline; we do not guarantee that any item will be fetched, complete or shown promptly, and we are not responsible for the accuracy or legality of publisher content. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gazette is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service, which today is nothing.
9. Changes
We may revise these Terms. If a change matters, we will post the new version here with a new effective date and, where we can, tell you in the app. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the new Terms.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which Grovix LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under the mandatory consumer-protection laws of the country where you live.
